Why Is a Bike Fit Important?
The human body wasn't designed to ride a bicycle — but with the right setup, you can ride comfortably and powerfully for years. Improper seat height, saddle position, crank arm length, and handlebar reach are all factors that can make cycling not just less comfortable, but genuinely harmful over time.
Common injuries from a poor bike fit include neck, shoulder, wrist, back, hip, knee, and foot pain — before, during, or after rides. Many riders assume these are just "part of the sport." They aren't.
Bike Shop Fit vs. Physical Therapy Retrofit
A local bike shop is the right first stop when buying a properly sized bicycle. Many shops provide a basic fit — seat height adjustments, handlebar reach — and that's a great foundation.
A physical therapy retrofit is a different kind of service. It comes into play when you have pain, discomfort, or dysfunction despite a basic fit. Our BikePT-certified clinician combines deep biomechanical expertise with knowledge of bone, joint, muscle, nerve, and ligament tissue to address the root cause of your cycling pain.
The session includes an off-the-bike assessment of your body, adjustments to the bike, and a targeted corrective exercise plan to change your movement patterns and prevent future injury.
Who Is This For?
Anyone on two wheels. Our bicycle retrofits are available for all bicycle types — road, mountain, hybrid, gravel, and more — and for all levels of riders from weekend recreational cyclists to competitive racers.
You don't have to be in pain to benefit. Many riders come proactively to optimize their fit before problems develop.
